Dear Belfast Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Welcome Back BBQ yesterday! It was our third annual BBQ, and each year we are still shocked by the number of people who come out to visit, play, and share a meal. We make it a priority at Belfast to offer many opportunities for families to come into the school, and we appreciate how our families always show up! Thank you to School Council for supporting the BBQ, to the Parent Fundraising Society for funding the event, and to all our amazing Belfast staff for cooking and serving the 600 hotdogs and other treats! We love our school community!
Follow us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week. If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance.
Terry Fox Run Next Thursday & Toonies for Terry
The annual Terry Fox run takes place next Thursday at 11:00 AM. Parents are welcome to come and run or cheer on the runners from the sidelines. We encourage all students to bring $2 for our “Toonies for Terry” fundraiser; we have two jars we are trying to fill with toonies this upcoming week!
All students will be learning about Terry Fox and his inspiring Marathon of Hope in class next week. You can learn more about the Terry Fox Foundation here.
Mr. Ursenbach is Our New Learning Leader!
We would like to congratulate Mr. U on becoming our Learning Leader for the 2025-2026 school year. An LL helps move teacher practice forward in the building, thus improving the learning experience for all students. We are fortunate to have Mr. U at Belfast, appreciate all of his informal leadership over the years, and are excited to have him join our Admin team.
School Council – Free Babysitting Provided
We encourage all of our families to attend School Council and the Parent Fundraising Society meeting on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 PM. Attending these meetings allows you to stay informed and have a voice in decision making at the school. While you attend the meeting, there are certified babysitters available to look after your school-aged children. We hope to see you all there!
We have a new School Council Executive this year:
- David Tran – Chair
 - Kristina Prins – Treasurer
 - Lois Mafrica – Secretary

We have vacant positions on the executive if parents are interested, and we also welcome anyone who just wants to come and listen and share their ideas more informally.
AHS Healthy Habits
Alberta Health Services has created a flat sheet for parents that outlines “Five Tips to Help your Child have a Healthy Start to the School Year”. The flat sheet has practical tips for families and is attached below.

Reminder: Clearance to Post Student Work and Pictures
If you would like to see your child (or your child’s work!) on Instagram or up in the hall and on bulletin boards, please ensure you give clearance in SchoolEngage as you complete your annual forms.
Reminder: Volunteering at the School and on Field Trips
We love and depend on volunteers for school events and field trips. All volunteers who work with students must have a security clearance through CPS. Please consider beginning your volunteer clearance right away, as it can take weeks during peak months, and our first field trips will be in October. You can read more about the steps involved with getting volunteer clearance here .
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
