Dear Belfast Families,
We would like to remind families that due to the CUPE strike, all school conferences will be held online. If an online meeting is difficult for your family, please reach out to your child’s teacher and we can arrange a phone call. Please note that there will not be anyone in the building on Friday and phones will not be answered that day. Please email belfast@cbe.ab.ca if you need anything on Friday.
Follow us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week. If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance. Please call the office if you have any questions about clearance.
$450 from Friends Pizza!
Thank you to everyone who ordered pizza from Friends Pizza on our fundraising day – our school made $450 in one night! Thank you to Friends Pizza and Robin from our Fundraising Society for organizing this initiative.
Psychologist Recommended Reading: Child Executive Functioning
Attached below is an e-book about executive functioning. The ebook is an incredible resource for parents whose children might be struggling with planning, organization, and/or follow through. There is a checklist at the front to see if your child is struggling in some areas, and suggestions on how to best support them at home if they need support. It is a worthwhile read!
Reminder: World Down Syndrome Day & Mismatched Socks Day
March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day – a day to promote inclusion and celebrate people with Down Syndrome. To show our understanding, our school will be participating in the “Lots of Socks” campaign, where students wear mismatched socks to show their support. You can learn more about this campaign here and about Down Syndrome here
Reminder: Slurpee Day ($2) – April 3 – For Ronald McDonald House
Students will be able to purchase a Slurpee on April 3 for $2. Thank you to one of our parents, Rikki, who has arranged for our school to purchase each Slurpee for $1, meaning that $1 will be donated to Leadership Club’s charity of choice: The Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House supports families whose children are receiving treatment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. For more information about RMHC, please visit their website here
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
