Dear Belfast Families, 

Well, we have one more week of school left- time flies when you’re having fun learning!   Please remember it is an early dismissal day on Thursday.  On Thursday at 12:10, we invite all of you to come meet by the playground doors as our Grade 6s students leave the building for the last time and are clapped out by staff and students.   

This past Wednesday, we had our annual AGM for School Council and the Parent Fundraising Society. I would also like to thank Kim, Hedi, Courtney, and Sam for their time on our Council/Society executive.  The work this team has done to organize and streamline our processes is incredible, and we are so lucky to have had them for two years!  You have supported student learning at Belfast in a significant way!  

We would like to welcome new members to the executive team:

Thank you for volunteering your time to support our school!  We will be looking to fill the rest of the positions in September (kindergarten representative and casino coordinator).

Staffing Updates 

  • We are saying goodbye to Ms. Premji as she is moving to Falconridge School to teach Grades 1 and 2.  Although she would have loved to stay at Belfast, she was ready for full-time, and we unfortunately couldn’t offer that to her at Belfast. We have loved working with Ms. Premji for the past two years, and will miss her so much!  Falconridge School is very lucky to have her!  
  • We have hired a new teacher for kindergarten.  Her name is Jessica Ross and she comes to us from Haultain Memorial.  Ms. Ross is energetic, kind, and loves kindergarten.  We can’t wait to see what she brings to the kindergarten program at Belfast!  Welcome to the Belfast family, Ms. Ross!  
  • Ms. Burgess, who was with us as a temporary teacher this year, is moving to Connaught School.  We adore Ms. Burgess and wish we could have kept her at Belfast!  We wish her the best in her new role as a physical education teacher!  
  • Ms. Kapur will be leaving us to finish her final year in the education program at U of C.  We can’t wait until Ms. Kapur is a teacher and can hopefully work at Belfast one day in that role!  We wish you the best of luck with your studies, Ms. Kapur!

Concession at Summerfest 

Council still has a few items (chips, juice, candy) left over from movie night.  They will be selling items on a first come, first served basis at Summerfest.  Please send your child with money if they would like anything.
