Dear Belfast Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to
our production of “The Aristocats” yesterday.  We are so fortunate to have
a fine arts specialist at Belfast!  Not only does Mr. Ursenbach instill a
passion for the arts in the students, he teaches them the science behind the
productions as well.  Students ran the show yesterday:  they designed
the sets, determined props, created the costumes, helped with blocking and
choreography, directed from the sidelines, ran the sound system, did the lighting,
ran and got classes so the timing was smooth, and did a million other things
behind the scenes.  The performers all knew their lines, sang beautifully,
and nailed their roles!  Mr. U began “The Aristocats” in February, and
what you saw last night – and all the things behind the curtain you didn’t see
– are evidence of incredible learning that has taken place these last three
months.  Thank you to all of our students, staff, and especially to Mr. U
for ensuring the fine arts program at Belfast continues to flourish!
Follow us on
Instagram!
We encourage all our
families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit
our school website to see pictures from the week.  If you do not see your
child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance.  Please
call the office if you have any questions about clearance.
Field Trip Fees Need to be
Paid
We need all families to pay
their field trip fees from the year, as our small school simply cannot afford
to cover the cost of unpaid fees.  We want to continue to offer amazing
trips, supplemented by our generous Parent Fundraising Society, but will be
unable to if we continue to have many unpaid fees.  Please make
installments towards your trips if you are unable to pay for the entire amount
all at once.  Thank you!
 National Indigenous History
Month
Each June, we celebrate
National Indigenous History Month; this is an opportunity to acknowledge and
celebrate Indigenous peoples, and learn about Indigenous histories and
cultures.  As we did last year, each class will participate in many
different activities throughout the month:  from learning about Indigenous
dance, practicing Indigenous words, examining the water cycle through an
Indigenous lens, reading books by Indigenous authors, smudging with Mrs.
Lundgren, and many more activities, the students will be intentionally focusing
on Indigenous teachings throughout the month of June.
Sun Safety at School
We are outside every day at
school, and with sunny days ahead, we want to ensure all students are protected
by the sun.  Please send your child with a hat (label it with their name),
and sunglasses if you wish.  Sunscreen can be sent as well, but students
need to be able to put it on independently, and can’t share with classmates.

 Parenting Support
Through Texts – Message from the U of C Shift Program
We know parenting isn’t always easy —
especially when it comes to talking about friendships, dating, and boundaries.
That’s why we created ConnectED Parents - free,
research-backed initiative that helps parents guide children aged 6–20 toward
healthy, respectful relationships.
Starting in September 2025, those who
sign up will get 2–3 short, practical texts each week — tips, tools, and ideas
you can use in real life. Over 6 months, you’ll receive around 70 messages to
help you:
✔️ Start open,
honest conversations about relationships and dating
✔️ Boost your
confidence as a parent in connecting with your child
✔️ Prevent
dating violence before it starts
This initiative is led by Shift, a research hub at the University of
Calgary’s Faculty of Social Work.
