Dear Belfast Families,

We would like to remind families that there is no school on Thursday, Friday, or Monday. We hope you enjoy this extra-long weekend with your family and friends.

Belfast Culture Questionnaire Coming Home Today

In preparation for our Parade of Nations and School-Wide Culture Day on March 19 (which parents will be able to see during Conferences that Thursday), paper questionnaires are being sent home with each child.

We ask that families complete the questionnaire together and return it by Friday, February 20. Thank you for supporting this important celebration of our school community.

Ramadan Mubarak

To all of our families who celebrate Ramadan, we wish you a meaningful and special time with family and friends.

As with all CBE schools, there will be a designated space for prayer each day during Ramadan. Thank you to Ms. Sumya and Ms. Mona for supervising ablution and prayer.

No Toys or Valuables at School

Pokemon cards, Labubus, and other toys should remain at home. Recently, we have seen an increase in lost items and conflicts related to toys brought to school.

To help prevent issues and keep learning environments calm and focused, we ask that toys and valuables are not brought to school or kept in backpacks. Thank you for your support.

School Planning Engagement

School Council Meeting – Online

Each year, schools share their School Development Plan (SDP) and school budget with families. This year, instead of a survey, this information will be shared directly at School Council.

To learn more about how parents contribute to school planning, families are encouraged to watch the short informational video linked here.

We will review the SDP and budget at School Council on Tuesday, February 17 at 6:30 PM.
The meeting will be held online and can be accessed using the link provided.

Reminder: Alberta Education and Childcare (AECA) Parent Survey

Parents of students in Grades 4–6 should have received a survey from Alberta Education. Results from this survey help inform school decision-making and improve student learning experiences.

If you received the survey, we kindly ask that you complete it as soon as possible. Thank you for your participation.

Reminder: Blanket Exercise

Thursday, February 26 — 6:00 PM
(Rescheduled from October)

Ms. Lundgren will be leading a Blanket Exercise for interested adults. This interactive experience is designed to build understanding of the shared history of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada, including pre-contact life, treaty-making, colonization, and resistance.

The exercise addresses topics such as the Indian Act, Residential Schools, and the Sixties Scoop. Due to the emotional nature of the content, the evening will conclude with a circle and an optional smudge.

If you have any questions, you can read more about what to expect here.

An RSVP is required so that we can prepare appropriately. Please email mllundgren@cbe.ab.ca if you plan to attend or would like additional information.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
