Dear Belfast Families,
Although the weather has been improving these last few weeks, we are still in the depths of cold and flu season, it seems. We have sent many children home from school this week because they have not been feeling well. We are asking parents to keep children at home if they are sick; they can access learning resources on their Google Classroom and teachers will catch them up when they return to class. Missing a day of school to ensure everyone stays healthy is always worth it! Thank you for helping us to keep our school healthy by keeping children home when they are ill.
Follow us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week. If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance. Please call the office if you have any questions about clearance.
Mr. Carroll Moving On
As many of you know, today was Mr. Carroll’s last day at Belfast. We want to thank Mr. Carroll for his hard work this year and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!
All CBE Conferences Online
With the CUPE strike, all March conferences will be moved online. Parents can sign up for conferences today through myCBE.
World Down Syndrome Day & Mismatched Socks Day
March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day – a day to promote inclusion and celebrate people with Down Syndrome. To show our understanding, our school will be participating in the “Lots of Socks” campaign, where students wear mismatched socks to show their support. You can learn more about this campaign here and about Down Syndrome here
Slurpee Day ($2) – April 3 – For Ronald McDonald House
Students will be able to purchase a Slurpee on April 3 for $2. Thank you to one of our parents, Rikki, who has arranged for our school to purchase each Slurpee for $1, meaning that $1 will be donated to Leadership Club’s charity of choice: The Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House supports families whose children are receiving treatment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. For more information about RMHC, please visit their website here
