Dear Families,
Thank you to all families that attended the Back to School BBQ on Thursday! We had a great turnout and a beautiful evening for our gathering. We are so fortunate to have such a strong community supporting and advancing learning for all students.
A BIG thank you to the Belfast staff for organizing the event and managing all the logistics that go into hosting. We also want to thank the Belfast School Council for providing the funding to make this event possible. We truly appreciate our partnership!
Proper Shoes, Clothing and Snacks
To keep your child safe and active, please make sure they have two pairs of shoes for school.
- Outdoor Shoes: Sturdy shoes appropriate for the weather.
- Indoor Sneakers: A dedicated pair for the classroom and gym.
For PE class, shoes must have laces or Velcro so they stay on securely while running and jumping—please no Crocs, slides, or boots in the gym. It is also helpful to dress in layers so your child stays warm during outdoor play. Thank you for helping us stay safe and ready to move, rain or shine!
A quick reminder: With growing bodies and lots of active outdoor play, students are feeling extra hungry! Please consider packing an extra snack for your child to help keep their energy up throughout the day. Thank you for your support!
Classroom Complexity Team (CCT)
This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants, and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.
We are pleased to share the following CCT team for the 2026-27 school year:
Melissa Holmes (CCT Teacher)
Laudy Elhajjahmad (CCT Education Assistant)
We are working through staffing processes to hire an additional CCT Education Assistant.
This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:
- Increased teacher attention
- Improved classroom learning environments
- Greater support for diverse learning needs

Reminder: Annual Volunteer Registration Required for All School Volunteers
To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
Process
Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the POPA requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.
New This Year: Community members who do not have a child registered with CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer. This change allows school staff to verify that volunteers have reviewed and acknowledged their privacy obligations under Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
PowerSchool
Please complete the important demographic forms, consent forms, and pay student fees, all available in your MyCBE parent portal. Ensure that your account is active and ready to go. If you need assistance, you can access support through the main page of the MyCBE login page.
