Dear Families,
We have been engaging the Belfast community in our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment (TRC) for the 2026-2027 school year. Each classroom has been learning about reconciliation through Spirit Bear’s Guide to Reconciliation, participating in sharing circles, and creating class promises, charters, or commitments. These class agreements are displayed on the bulletin board in our main entrance.
Common themes that have emerged include learning Indigenous languages and stories, learning from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging, showing kindness, and caring for the land where we live, learn, and play.
We are now in the process of identifying and naming our school-wide TRC commitment for 2026-2027. We look forward to sharing this commitment with all families on September 29 as we recognize Orange Shirt Day and continue our journey of learning, reflection, and reconciliation together.
Completing Demographic Verification Forms
This is an important reminder to complete the demographic verification process online through your MyCBE account. There are still many outstanding verification forms that need to be completed. We appreciate your attention to this.
Sport Hub Volleyball Residency
Belfast is excited to welcome the City of Calgary Sport Hub program to our school for a volleyball residency. All classes will be participating in a series of volleyball lessons directed by coaches from Volleyball Calgary. These sessions will occur once a week beginning October 7 through November 4.
Through this residency, students will develop fundamental volleyball skills while building teamwork, communication, and confidence through physical activity. We are grateful to the City of Calgary Sport Hub program for making this opportunity available to our students at no cost to the school or families.

Friendly reminder - We are Scent Free and Nut Aware!
At Belfast, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students and staff. As some members of our school community have severe allergies and sensitivities, we ask for your support in helping us remain a scent-free and nut-aware school.
Please avoid sending foods containing nuts or nut products in lunches and snacks. We also ask that students and visitors refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, scented body sprays, or other strongly scented products to school.
