Dear Belfast Families,
Well, it was a short and sweet “week” of school after the break, but we managed to get a lot of learning done in a short amount of time!
Please be sure to read the teacher messages each week to find out specifics of what your child is doing in class, and ask your child questions about the different subjects. It is always impressive how much the teachers are able to cover and how much students learn in a short amount of time!
At Belfast, we try to make our learning as visible as possible: through Google Classroom, Instagram, weekly updates, and by inviting families into the school. As we approach Conferences at the end of the month, we want all families to come into the school feeling well-informed. If you ever have questions about what your child is learning in school, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you all for being such great partners in your child’s education!

If you do not see your child on Instagram and would like to, please complete the annual authorization form on myCBE/SchoolEngage
Annual Giving Tree – Gift Card Donations Accepted!
It’s that time of year again when we begin to collect donations of gift cards to give to fellow Belfast families in need. Starting Monday, you can bring any gift card, in any denomination, to the office. Before winter break, we will distribute the cards to Belfast families in need. If you are purchasing a card, we strongly recommend purchasing cards for places that sell both groceries and other goods, like Superstore or Walmart, so parents can buy what they need and maybe some presents for their children at the holidays. Please drop off donations to Shelley in the main office. Thank you for helping out your fellow Belfast parents!
Blanket Exercise Rescheduled
The Blanket Exercise – an interactive history of Canada told through an Indigenous lens – was to take place in October. Due to the strike, we will reschedule this event for late February/early March. More information will come out in the new year. If you RSVP’d to the last event, an email will be sent directly to you in January to confirm attendance at the new date.
New Parking Signs
Please note that the signage in front of the school will be changing in the upcoming weeks to ensure we have appropriate loading areas for our accessible bus. Please adhere to signage when it comes to drop-offs, pick-ups, and parking. Thank you!
Conference Bookings
School conferences will be Thursday, November 27 from 4:00-8:00 and 8:30-12:00 on Friday, November 28. An email will be sent home early next week with booking information.
Reminder: School Council Meeting – Babysitting Provided!
On Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30, we will have our School Council and Parent Fundraising Society meetings. We will be sharing our School Development Plan (SDP), outlining some of our key goals and action plans for the year. We encourage everyone to come out to hear about our SDP, get updates about events, and play a part in the decision-making process at school.
Reminder: Collecting Food for the Veteran’s Food Bank
We have boxes at the front of the school by the office for all of your food donations. We will continue to collect cash and food donations for the Veteran’s Food Bank until the end of the week. Thank you!
Reminder: Pizza Fundraiser Forms Sent Home
Last week, students in Grades 1-6 were given the pizza forms for a pizza day on Thursday, November 27. All forms and money are due back by Monday, November 17. The pizza day is a Leadership Club fundraiser to support our charity of the year, Parachute for Pets, that supports pets when families have emergencies. You can learn more about Parachute for Pets here
Reminder: Babysitting Certification Forms and Money Due
Students in Grades 5 and 6 who want to become certified babysitters should have their forms and money returned to the office by November 20.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
