Dear Belfast Families,
It was a short, but busy week with our spirit days and choice day today. Choice day allows students to sign up for a 1.5 hour session about something they are interested in, and helps to build relationships across classrooms and grades. Today, students participated in a variety of learning tasks: from baking to Rube Goldberg machine making; from robotics and coding to creating ceramic pinch pots. Thank you to our staff for organizing such a variety of creative learning experiences for our students!
Please remember we do not have school Thursday, Friday, or Monday. We wish you a wonderful long weekend with your family!
Follow Us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week. If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance. Please call the office if you have any questions about clearance.
The Importance of Paying Fees - Field Trips & School Fees
As a small school, we cannot afford to cover the cost of unpaid field trip fees. Our Belfast Fundraising Society heavily subsidizes the cost of field trips for us, and we are fortunate that our parents are only asked to pay a partial amount. Right now, our school is waiting for over $2000 to be paid for field trips to The Confluence (Grades 3 & 4), The Rothney Observatory (Grades 5/6), The Calgary Zoo (Grades 1 &2), and the kindergarten virtual field trip.
In addition to the $2000 in field trip fees, we are also waiting for $5300 in school fees to be paid. We are asking families to please log into MyCBE this weekend and pay your fees if you are able. If the total cost of the trip or school fee is difficult for your family, please pay in installments with what you can afford.
We want to continue to offer amazing on-campus and off-site learning opportunities for our students and need parent help to do so! Thank you in advance!
Free Community Parent Education Network from Hull Services
This program is led by experienced Hull Services employees and runs once a week for 8 weeks. No referral or social service involvement needed, it’s free to any interested parent, adult and/or caregiver AND their children aged 5-12. The course focuses on teaching effective parenting skills, coupled with a children’s social skills group. The children’s group will focus on social skills such as how to listen, how to accept no/disappointment, how to express their feelings and how to deal with being angry/frustrated.
The topics we discuss in the parent group are:
- Relationship Building and Positive Behaviour
 - Reducing Conflict and Managing Transitions Successfully
 - Special Incentives and Collaborative Planning
 - Effective Consequences and Problem Solving Strategies

Children's Village School, in the NE community of Renfrew, will be hosting the upcoming course this spring. The start date of the course is Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM. Please find the program schedule (poster) attached with important information about location, dates, times and how to register. Feel free to photocopy and email or distribute to any interested party. We welcome any school inquiries or questions you may have. The email to register is HullCPEP@hullservices.ca. One of our facilitators will be able to answer questions from parents and collect their information for registration.
Reminder - Family Movie Night
Speaking of popcorn, we will have our first Family Movie Night on Thursday, March 13. Doors and concession will open at 6:00 and the movies will begin at 6:30.
Leadership Club students have picked three movies:  Wicked, Moana 2, and Garfield. Families will be sent home a form after
the long weekend to indicate if they plan to attend, how many family members are attending, and which movie they are selecting.
There will be a cost of $2 per person to attend, with all funds raised going to our Belfast Parent Fundraising Society.
Reminder - Friends Pizza Fundraising
Support Belfast School by stopping by Friends Pizza & Pasta on March 12, 2025. 15% of all food and drinks purchased on March 12 will be donated to Belfast School to help fund activities and resources for our students. Thank you to everyone who makes a purchase and to Friends Pizza & Pasta for their generosity. You can check out Friends Pizza here:
