Dear Belfast Families

Thank you to everyone who came out to our winter concerts yesterday.  We had full houses for both the morning show and the evening performance, which is always wonderful to see at a school as small as ours.  It means everything to the students to see their special people in the audience.  Thank you to all of you for showing up for your children!

Next week is a busy one at Belfast, with spirit week in full force.  We can’t wait to see all of the students and staff dressed up next week.  Thank you for joining in the chaos of the season and supporting our school initiatives!

Follow Us on Instagram!

We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week.  If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance.  Please call the office if you have any questions about clearance.

What Clubs are Happening at Belfast?

One of our SDP goals is belonging.  We know that clubs and extracurricular opportunities promote a sense of belonging, and there are many opportunities for students to join clubs
at Belfast.  Some clubs are:

  • Leadership Club with Mrs. Lundgren – Grades 5 & 6 Thursdays at lunch
  • Friendship Club with Ms. Evans – Changemakers & Grades 3 & 4 Tuesdays at lunch
  • Reading Club with Ms. Holmes – Grades 1-4 Tuesdays at lunch
  • Crochet Club with Ms. Medland – Grades 3 & 4 Thursdays at lunch
  • Art Meditation Club with Ms. Powell – Grades 1-4 Wednesdays at lunch

Coming up in January

  • Games - (Chess and Dungeons & Dragons) Club with Mr. Carroll – Grades 3 & 4 Wednesdays at lunch
  • PE - Sports Club with Ms. Szymanek – Grades 5 & 6 after school on Wednesdays
  • Pride - Straight Alliance with Ms. Posadas & Ms. Devos  – Grades 5 & 6
    Wednesdays at lunch

Reminder:  December Spirit Days

Leadership Club has planned some Spirit Days for the last week of school.  Students were mindful to be inclusive, as many of our families do not celebrate Christmas so we didn’t want it all to be about that one celebration.  Here is the plan:

  • All week: caroling in the gym at 8:35ish.  Families welcome.  Will be about 20 minutes each morning
  • Monday, December 16 – Sports Day/Jersey Day
  • Tuesday, December 17 – Grinch Day (wear green and red)
  • Wednesday, December 18 – Formal Day (dress up in fancy clothes)
  • Thursday, December 19 – Ugly Sweater/Festive Day & Pizza Lunch Day
  • Friday, December 20 – PJ/Stuffie Day & a Dance Party to end the day

Reminder:  Kindergarten Registration and Open House – Save the Dates!

If you have a child coming into kindergarten next year, or know somebody who does, we would love to have them at Belfast!  Kindergarten registration opens on Monday, January 13, and we will have our Open House on Thursday, January 16, from 6:30-7:30 PM.
Please pass on this information to any parents you know who have children coming into kindergarten!

Reminder:  Belfast Giving Tree – Donate Gift Cards for Families!

We do our best to look after the families at our school, and there are some who could use a little extra this holiday season.  Just as we did last year, we are collecting gift cards (from any location, for any denomination) to disperse to our Belfast families who could use the support.  We will be collecting gift cards until December 16.

Please bring your gift cards to the front office, with the dollar value clearly labelled.  Gift cards for places like Walmart and Superstore allow families to get food, clothing, and presents, so those are always encouraged.  Thank you in advance for helping out fellow Belfast students and families!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Meagan Lundgren

Principal
