Dear Belfast Families,

What an incredible turnout for our winter concerts yesterday!  We set up 250 chairs and they were almost all filled!  For such a little school, we always have impressive attendance at our events.  THANK YOU for always showing up for your children and our school.  We appreciate our Belfast families so much!  Thank you to Mr. U and his student teacher, Ms. Grewal, for a wonderful production!

If you do not see your child on Instagram and would like to, please complete the annual authorization form on myCBE/SchoolEngage

Ms. Teasdale is Retiring!

As she shared with her class this week, Ms. Teasdale will be retiring after a long and impactful career.  Ms. Teasdale’s last day will be Friday, December 19.  We are pleased to welcome Ms. Leonie Quedenbaum to our school.  Ms. Quedenbaum will replace Ms. Teasdale for the remainder of this school year, and we know she will be warmly welcomed by our Belfast family.

Ms. Teasdale has contributed so much to our school community during her time at Belfast.  She is the epitome of a loving, kind teacher who makes everyone in her classroom feel valued and appreciated.  Ms. Teasdale is also a masterful teacher:  an expert in literacy curriculum and incredible at behavior management and regulation.  It has been a privilege working with Ms. Teasdale and we have all enjoyed learning from her – and alongside her – over the years.

We are happy to share that Ms. Teasdale will be subbing with us in the new year, so students and staff will still get their Teasdale time!

We want to congratulate Jenn on an amazing career and a well-deserved retirement!  We will miss you, but we are so excited for you!

Polar Bear Days

When it is a “Polar Bear Day”, and the windchill is colder than –20, we will open up the doors at 8:15 AM.  You will see a picture of a polar bear on the door, and a “door is open – come in!” message – just like we did today.  We do not want children to wait outside on cold days.  Thank you for communicating this to your child!

Ten Ways to Build your Child’s Social-Emotional Skills

AHS has created a list of ten ways that parents can help their children understand and express feelings, solve problems, manage stress, and get along with others.  You can see the list here

Reminder: Annual Giving Tree – Gift Card Donations Accepted until Tuesday!

It’s that time of year again when we begin to collect donations of gift cards to give to fellow Belfast families in need.  We will collect until Tuesday, then distribute to families by the end of the week.  If you are purchasing a card, we strongly recommend purchasing cards for places that sell both groceries and other goods, like Superstore or Walmart, so parents can buy what they need and maybe some presents for their children at the holidays.  Please drop off donations to Shelley in the main office.  Thank you for helping out your fellow Belfast parents!

Reminder: Kindergarten Open House & Registration for 2026-2027

Do you have a child turning 5 by December 31, 2026?  If so, we would love to have them at Belfast School for kindergarten!

We invite all prospective kindergarten families to join us for our Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, January 15, from 6:00-7:00 PM.  The evening will include:

  • A short presentation and overview of the kindergarten program at Belfast
  • A fun scavenger hunt that will allow you and your child to explore the school
  • Current kindergarten students & parents available to share their experiences
  • Engaging centres in the kindergarten room for your child to explore
  • The opportunity to meet staff and ask questions

While parents attend the presentation, our Grade 5/6 certified babysitters and some of our amazing teachers will keep our future kindergarten students entertained in the gym.  If your child is nervous about leaving you, no worries – they can stay with you for the presentation!  More information about the open house can be found here

If you are unable to make the Open House, you can always reach out to book a school tour.  We love having families visit during the day to see what our school is all about!

Kindergarten registration begins online January 12 for all CBE schools.  You can learn more about the registration process here and set up your online registration account here

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
