Dear Belfast Families,
We hope to see many of you tonight and tomorrow at conferences. We all know that students learn best when they have a team supporting them, and conferences provide us with a wonderful opportunity to ensure that we are all on the same page. Please feel free to explore the rest of the school when you are here and check out each grade’s documentation (bulletin) board to see the incredible learning happening in your child’s classroom and all of the other classrooms as well!
Follow us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week. If you do not see your child on Instagram, it may be because they do not have clearance. Please call the office if you have any questions about clearance.
Belfast Giving Tree – Donate Gift Cards for Families!
We do our best to look after the families at our school, and there are some who could use a little extra this holiday season. Just as we did last year, we are collecting gift cards (from any location, for any denomination) to disperse to our Belfast families who could use the support. We will be collecting gift cards starting Monday to December 16.
Please bring your gift cards to the front office, with the dollar value clearly labelled. Gift cards for places like Walmart and Superstore allow families to get food, clothing, and presents, so those are always encouraged. Thank you in advance for helping out fellow Belfast students and families!
School Development Plan, School Improvement Results Report & Fee Report
Our School Development Plan (SDP) outlines the two goals we are explicitly working on this year: improving assessment in writing, and improving a sense of belonging. For more information on our SDP, please read it on our website here.
Our School Improvement Results Report looks at our data from last school year and informs our goals for this year. You can read more about our successes and next steps here.
Our Fee Report outlines fees collected last school, including any deficits still waiting to be collected. You can view the fee report next week here.
Communities - Request for Cardboard
We are excited to announce that our next Community Day will take place on December 17. We will be creating a miniature Winter Wonderland as a collaborative art project. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our students to work together and contribute to something special, all while fostering a sense of community and belonging.
To bring this vision to life, we will need thin cardboard, such as the kind from Kraft Dinner or cereal boxes. If you have any of these types of boxes at home, we would greatly appreciate your donation. Please break the boxes down to make them easier for your child to carry and send them to school next week.
Thank you - Veteran’s Food Bank
Thank you to all of our families who donated laundry soap, bought a poppy, or purchased a Slurpee on our fundraising day. We raised $233 for the Veteran’s Food Bank and donated a lot of laundry soap and fabric softener. We might be a tiny school, but we are a generous group of people! Thank you!
Pizza Lunch - Thursday, December 19 – Kindergarten Included!
Our friends at the local 7-11 are providing pizza for students to purchase on the last full day of classes, December 16. For $5, your child will receive two pieces of pizza. They can choose between cheese or pepperoni. Forms will be sent home on Monday, and all forms and money are due by December 10. Students must pay in advance to ensure supply. Money raised will go directly to our Parent Fundraising Society. Kindergarten students will have pizza dropped off at 11:20 to enjoy before pick-up, or they can choose to take it home.
Polar Bear Club Request
Just a reminder to parents that if you want your child to participate in Polar Bear Club you must contact the teacher to give permission. Students in Polar Bear Club go outside on days (like today) when the temperature with windchill is between –21 and –30. Students must be dressed appropriately. Please remind your child that if they signed up for the club, they should be going out!
Reminder - School Council Fundraiser - Only one Fundraiser all Year!
We are simplifying our fundraising efforts. Instead of multiple smaller events, we are hosting one major fundraiser on the Education Matters platform. 100% of your donation goes directly to the school (3.5% for administration). A tax receipt will be issued for donations over $20.00. Please spread the word and share the link with friends and family. Your generosity will make a difference to Belfast School. Donate!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
