Dear Belfast families,
We look forward to seeing all of you at our Meet the Teacher event tonight! Tonight, families will be able to:
· Meet their child’s teacher
· See their child’s classroom
· Have their child tour them through the classroom and show their work
· Learn what our School Council & Parent Fundraising Society do
· Visit the book fair and purchase any items
· Attend the Grade 5/6 parents’ presentation from 7:00-7:30
Please remember that tonight’s format is not formal conferences; these will take place in November.
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week.
Cold Weather Clothing
As we head into the colder months, we encourage our families to reach out if your family is in need of warm clothing and boots, as we are connected with Jacket Racket and Boots for Kids. If you need any winter clothing (coats, snowpants, or boots), contact Kari in the office at klforrest@cbe.ab.ca. Please include your child’s name, class, and size.
World Teachers’ Day is October 5 – Request for Messages
School Council would like to remind all families that October 5 is World Teachers’ Day:
Let’s show our amazing teachers just how much we appreciate them! 💌 This week let's fill their inboxes with stories, messages, and notes of gratitude. Every word counts!
Together, let’s make their day special! 💖
Roots of Empathy: Baby in the School!
We are so fortunate to be a “Roots of Empathy” school this year. Roots of Empathy is a international program that brings a baby into the school for students to observe and interact with. Ms. Lorelee is a trained Roots of Empathy instructor and will be working with the Grade 1&2 classes this year. Each month, Baby Kolter will visit the classroom, students will observe his growth and development, with the intention that studetns develop increased empathy throughout the experience. For more information, visit https://rootsofempathy.org/
Reminder: National Day for Truth & Reconciliation Event
The 4th annual City of Calgary, Calgary Board of Education, and Calgary Catholic School District ceremonial opening of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (750 9th Ave. S.E.).
All CBE staff, students, families, friends, and neighbours are invited to attend to commemorate Indian residential school victims, honour survivors, and commit to Truth & ReconciliACTION.
Throughout the year, and particularly this month, all classes will be engaged in learning about truth and reconciliation. Teachers will update families about this learning in their weekly messages and we have a school-wide showcase coming up that parents will be able to engage with – stay tuned!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
Principal
