Dear Belfast Families,
Thank you so much to all of the people who volunteered at the casino this past week. We know that many people took a day off of work, or stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and then went to work on little to no sleep. Your selflessness means that our students get access to enriched learning experiences at our school. We are so grateful to have such a generous parent community. Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, and family friends who helped out this week! Thank you also to our amazing Council and staff who put on such a fun Halloween dance last night!
Follow us on Instagram!
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week.
Lice Prevention
Lice is common in schools, yet it would not be as prevalent if we all do our part to prevent the spread of lice. We need your help in teaching our children to not share anything that comes into contact with hair, like hats, brushes, helmets, hair ties, etc. As a school, we teach the students to keep space between coat hooks and to not share toques and hats. We have limited soft surfaces in our classrooms and we vacuum our carpets regularly to prevent the spread. The school board no longer asks students who have lice to stay home, but we do ask parents to properly treat lice if they find it, and to report the lice to the school so we can send out classroom-specific messages. Thank you for your support!
Leadership Club Upcoming Events
We have over 60 students in Leadership Club this year, and they are already working hard! We have planned some special events:
· Thursday, October 31 – Halloween costumes or orange/black day
· Friday, November 1 – PJ/Stuffie day & choice morning
· In the spirit of belonging and engagement, all students will spend the first part of their day engaging in cross-graded activities of choice. Each teacher will be running a session and students can choose which one to attend.
· Friday, November 15 – Anything but a Water Bottle Day. Last year, we did “Anything but a Backpack Day” and this year, it’s water bottles. What creative (and safe) item can your child bring their water to school that is NOT a water bottle?
· Friday, November 22 – Colour Day. Dress head to toe in one colour – you choose the colour!
Reminder: Halloween Costume Reminders
We would like to remind families that students should not be wearing masks and cannot bring fake weapons to school as part of their Halloween costumes.
Reminder: School Council & Parent Fundraising Society – Babysitting & Snacks Provided!
Our next Council/Society meeting is Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30. Certified babysitters will be on hand to look after your children (ages 3+) while you attend the meeting. Our babysitters will be showing a movie and providing other activities to keep the children entertained. This month’s meeting will focus on the School Development Plan (SDP) and include a presentation from the Grade 1&2 teachers. We will have some snacks for the adults at the meeting as well! We hope to see you there!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful weekend,
