We had another fantastic week of learning and community building at Belfast. Our Halloween costume parade was adorable, and students enjoyed today’s pajama and choice activity day! Thank you to all the parents who came out to the School Council meeting this week. Strong collaboration with Belfast parents is one of the reasons our school is such a dynamic learning community.

We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week.

Remembrance Day Assembly

Parents, extended family, and community members are invited to the Belfast Remembrance Day assembly on November 7 at 10:30am – please arrive by 10:15.

We encourage student Girl Guides, Cadets, Boy Scouts, etc. to wear their uniform to school for the assembly.

Leadership Club Upcoming Events

  • Starting next week, Leadership will be collecting laundry soap for the Veteran’s Food Bank (even small ones from the dollar store). Please donate if you are able.
  • Friday, November 15 – Anything but a Water Bottle Day.  Last year, we did “Anything but a Backpack Day” and this year, it’s water bottles.  What creative (and safe) item can your child bring their water to school that is NOT a water bottle?
  • Friday, November 22 – Colour Day. Dress head to toe in one colour – you choose the colour!

Screenagers - Growing up in the digital age – Movie Screening for Parents

Sir John Franklin is hosting a screening of the docu-series "Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age".  The first viewing will be held at SJF on Thursday, November 7 at 6:30pm.  The movie addresses challenges school communities are facing today such as smartwatches in class, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, exposure too young and the research on screen time effects. A range of experts have contributed to the movie with the latest research and insight, including Jonathan Haidt, author of the bestselling book, The Anxious Generation.   Please RSVP by Nov. 5 through this link.

Feel free to share this invitation with friends!

Fall Break

There is no school for students from November 8 – 13 as it is fall break. We hope that your family has time to rest and rejuvenate together.

Conferences- November 28 & 29

All parents are invited to book a conference with your child’s teacher. Please use the MyCBE portal to book your conference. If you have trouble booking, please see this link or contact the office.

Save the Date - Winter Concert December 12

All students will be performing at our Winter Concert on Thursday, December 12.  We will have two shows: one at 10:15 AM and one at 6:30 PM. Due to space constraints, we ask that only immediate family come to the evening performance; grandparents and other extended family members are encouraged to come to the afternoon performance.

AHS Resource – Sleeping Your Way to Better Mental Health

Please have a look at this resource if you would like to know more about sleep.

Digital Decodable Library – Worth a Visit!

The CBE has a digital library! This is an amazing site for beginning readers to access reading materials at home and at school. Explore some of these resources.

Reminder - Polar Bear Club

We are excited to offer Polar Bear Club at lunch recess. To participate in Polar Bear Club, students must have proper winter clothing and have parent permission.  Students will stay outside for part or all of the lunch recess, depending on weather. If you need another copy of the permission form, please call the office and we will send another copy home.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.

Have a wonderful weekend,
