Dear Belfast families,
There were many highlights for me from the first 1.5 days back at school, yet the one that stands out the most is how our familiar Belfast students welcomed our newest students. Only one-third of our 200 students are designated to our school; the other two-thirds choose to come to our school because it really is a “gem” of a school. The last two days reminded me of why we are special: we welcome others and we show genuine empathy and kindness when new people join our community. Thank you to our Belfast families for raising such wonderful children, and for choosing our school.
We encourage all our families to follow our school’s Instagram account (@BelfastSchoolcbe) and visit our school website to see pictures from the week.
Welcome Back BBQ - Thursday
We have a Family Welcome Back BBQ on Thursday, September 5 from 5:00-7:00. We hope to see all of you there! Please bring a blanket to sit on. We will be providing hotdogs (all beef, veggie, Halal), chips, juice and water. The BBQ is for all immediate family members, and a form will be sent home Tuesday so families can indicate the number of people attending. We love seeing the students running around playing while the families reconnect with one another and meet new people.
12:15 Dismissal on Fridays
We have early dismissals on Fridays, with students being dismissed at 12:15. Please ensure your child is picked up on time Fridays (well, every day, but especially on Fridays!) as we begin our staff meetings and professional development right after dismissal.
Fun Lunches
Thank you to our parent coordinator, Alisha, for organizing the Fun Lunches for the school year. Once a month, families have the opportunity to purchase a special lunch for their child from a local restaurant. School Council receives a small percentage of all sales that they give back to the school through items such as Belfast School shirts and events like Summerfest. To order your child’s lunches, please set up an account at https://healthyhunger.ca . If you would you like your child to receive lunch, but are unable to financially participate, please reach out to us.
Medical Forms
If your child has a medical condition, like an allergy, please ensure you update the medical form in SchoolEngage. If you require the school to administer any medication, you must come into the school to complete the medication form.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share.
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Meagan Lundgren
