Hello Belfast families,
As we near the end of the school year, I wanted to
take a moment to welcome our new Belfast families and wish other families the
best as they move onto junior high or relocate to other communities.
To those of you moving to different schools, we wish
you the best of luck and thank you for all that you have done to contribute to
our school community. Our Grade 6 students transitioning into junior high are
more than ready, and we look forward to surprise visits from Grade 7 students
next year! For those of you moving to another school at any other point, we
hope your children love their new school and feel as valued and cared for as
they did here.
To our new Belfast families, welcome! I can say with
confidence that you will love Belfast School and will discover that it is truly
a little gem of a school within our big city. Belfast is small enough that we
know every child’s name, yet large enough that every child has multiple adults
in the building that they feel connected to. Our students get to know one
another through school-wide initiatives like Communities, and through buddy
classes. Your child will not only get to know the children in their class, but
students throughout the school.
We know students achieve greater success when the
school, family, and students work together. Our Belfast School community is
supportive and engaged: we have many volunteers who work in our school, help at
school events, and attend field trips. We have an incredibly supportive School
Council and a generous Parent Fundraising Society, who supplement our teaching
through residencies, materials, and unique experiences. I encourage you all to
check out our school Instagram @belfastschoolcbe to see all the enrichment
opportunities our students have had this year. I also encourage all new
families to attend Council meetings in the new year to stay informed and to
have a voice in decision-making at Belfast.
To begin our year in a good way, we welcome all of you to our Welcome Back BBQ on
Thursday, September 5, from 5:00-7:00. Staff will serve food, children will
run around and play, and parents will meet one another and/or catch up with one
another. We hope you can all attend!
I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy
summer. We will see you all on August 29!
